This past Thursday I hosted my first Thanksgiving and I could just kick myself for not taking a time out and snapping photos of everything. I have never hosted so many people in my home and have to admit anxiety got the best of me. My mother kept preparing me to allow room for mishaps and time adjustments, but in the back of my mind I just couldn’t let my thoughts accommodate possible imperfections. I knew this being my first holiday hosting I would get a free pass but pushing that thought aside I started preparing several weeks in advance for the big day.
I took a much-needed trip to my local Home Goods store and boy did I have a field day with decorating our table in a festive red and silver theme. I also used this opportunity to buy a whole new square plate set that I found at World Market along with a 3-Crock slow cooker to make sure all food served was warm as possible.
Among the countless items on the menu; besides turkey, was my Cheesy Spinach Lasagna, Roasted Cumin Cashews, homemade Pecan Pie and finally the delicious Famous Dave’s Macaroni and Cheese recipe I found online, which I’ll share with you here today. You’ll also notice the extremely adorable turkey cookies that I made as my favors for each guest. My mother and I have made these since I was in high school and I recently found an updated version on Pinterest.com that I simply could not resist making. They were such a huge hit and only took about forty minutes to make 13.
